Get Your Store Ready to Sell (Activation Checklist)
It gathers the 6 steps that actually make your store able to sell into a single card, ticks off the ones you have finished by itself, and takes you to…
Where to find: The Get your store ready to sell card at the very top of the My Stores page in the store owner panel, just above the store list Who it's for: Store owners who have just opened a store and are asking "what do I need to do now?". In short: It gathers the 6 steps that actually make your store able to sell into a single card, ticks off the ones you have finished by itself, and takes you to the screen for the missing step in one click.
What does it do?
When you open a new store, the store technically exists but cannot sell: it has no products, its storefront is not published, no payment method is defined. This card puts those gaps in order.
The most important feature of the card is this: you do not tick the steps yourself. The system decides whether each step has really been done by looking at your store's data. For example, the moment you add your first product, the matching step is completed by itself.
Do not mix them up: The dashboard of the management panel, where you do your product and order work, also has a similar card called Store Setup Guide; there you complete the steps by ticking the boxes yourself. The card here is automatic. Details: Dashboard — Overview.
What is on the card?
The card sits above the store cards on the My Stores page. It contains the following:
| Part | What does it show? |
|---|---|
| Rocket icon | The icon at the top left of the card. |
| Title | Get your store ready to sell |
| Subtitle | {store name} · {completed}/{total} steps completed |
| Progress bar | The bar showing the completion ratio. |
| Percentage | To the right of the bar, as %{number}. For example, if 3 of 6 steps are done it reads %50. |
| Store selector | Appears only if you have more than one store. |
| Arrow button | Hides/shows the step list. |
| Step list | Six steps; each has a title and a one-line description. |
The text of completed steps appears struck through, a green tick appears in the circle on their left, and the step moves to the bottom of the list. That way the things still to do always stay at the top.
Tip: The card only works for stores you own. If you have no store, the card does not appear.
The six steps
| Step | What its description says | Where does clicking take you? | When is it counted as completed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verify your e-mail address | Verify your account to unlock the full panel | Your own profile page in the panel | When your account's e-mail address is verified |
| Add your first product | Create the first product you want to sell | The product creation screen in the management panel (the product list if you already have a product), in a new tab | When your store has at least one product |
| Pick and publish your theme | Design your storefront in the editor and publish it | The theme editor, in a new tab | When at least one theme has been published |
| Set up a payment method | Enable at least one of card, bank transfer or cash on delivery | The integrations screen in the management panel, in a new tab | When at least one payment method your customer can use is enabled on the storefront |
| Connect your custom domain | Go live on your own domain name | The custom domain tab in store settings | When your custom domain becomes active |
| Receive your first order | Share your storefront and fulfil your first order | The order list in the management panel, in a new tab | When at least one order has come into your store |
When you hover over a step, a small arrow appears on the right; clicking the row takes you to the screen where you do that job.
Tip: Four of the steps take you to the management panel (product, theme, integration, order) and open in a new tab. Your panel tab does not close; once you finish the job, just return to the old tab and refresh the page.
Warning: The Connect your custom domain step is optional work. If you do not have your own domain name, your store can still sell on the address Treyza gave it; because this step is not completed the card does not reach 100%, but it does not block selling. Details: Custom Domain.
If you have more than one store
A store selector appears to the right of the title (its label: Select store). When you pick another store from the list, the card shows that store's steps and percentage. While the list is reloading, the card dims briefly.
If you only have one store, this selector does not appear at all.
Hiding and dismissing the card
| Action | How is it done? | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Hiding the steps | The arrow button at the top right (Hide steps) | Only the title, the percentage and the bar remain. |
| Bringing the steps back | The same button (Show steps) | The list opens again. |
| Dismissing the card entirely | The cross button that appears when all steps are done (Dismiss card) | The card never appears again for that store. |
Warning: The Dismiss card button only appears when all the steps are completed. You cannot permanently dismiss an unfinished checklist; you can only hide the steps.
Tip: The hide and dismiss preference is saved in the browser you use. When you sign in from another computer or another browser, the card may appear open again; this is not a fault.
When all the steps are done
When all six steps are completed, the card turns into a green celebration card:
- Title: Setup complete
- Description: {store name} is ready to sell. You can dismiss this card.
- On the right: the store selector (if you have more than one store) and the Dismiss card button.
When you dismiss the card, the list never appears again for that store.
Frequently asked questions
I can't tick the box next to a step. There is no box to tick here. The steps complete themselves when you actually do the work. The list with tick boxes is the Store Setup Guide card in the management panel.
I added the product but the step still looks open. Refresh the page. The card shows the state at the moment you opened it; it does not update live by itself.
The card doesn't appear at all. There are three possibilities: you have no store yet, you finished all the steps and dismissed the card, or the card you dismissed in another browser is already dismissed in this one.
Why doesn't the percentage reach 100? All six steps are counted; if you have not done an optional step such as Connect your custom domain, the ratio stays at five out of six (%83). This does not stop your store from selling.
What do I need to do for the payment method step? It is enough to enable at least one of card, bank transfer or cash on delivery from the integrations screen in the management panel.
I clicked a step, a new tab opened and it asked me to sign in. The management panel is a separate address; it may ask for session verification the first time it opens. After you sign in, you land on the right screen.
I have more than one store, can't I see the state of all of them at once? The card shows one store at a time. To switch to another one, use the store selector next to the title.
