Subscribers: Marketing Consent and Double Opt-in
Visitors who give consent on your storefront (newsletter form, spin wheel/loot box game, product wizard) land in this list. Each subscriber's status…
Where to find: Left menu → Marketing → Subscribers Who it's for: Anyone who wants to see their email list, understand who will receive marketing email, and ask new subscribers to confirm In short: Visitors who give consent on your storefront (newsletter form, spin wheel/loot box game, product wizard) land in this list. Each subscriber's status tells you whether they can receive marketing email. With double opt-in you can hold new subscribers until they click the link in their email.
Where do subscribers come from?
Only visitors who explicitly give consent are added. Every record stores the moment of consent, the consent text the visitor saw on screen, and the IP address.
| Source | When is it added? | Consent text the visitor sees |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletter form | When the visitor enters their email and ticks the consent box. The form cannot be submitted without it. | "I want to receive campaign and announcement emails." |
| Spin wheel / Loot box | When the participant ticks the optional consent box under the email field. The box is unticked by default; they can still spin and win a coupon without it, but they do not become a subscriber. | "I would like to receive campaigns and offers by email." |
| Product wizard | When the Marketing permission box is enabled on the contact step and the customer ticks it and leaves an email. | "I would like to hear about campaigns and offers" |
Where does the newsletter form appear on the storefront? In the theme editor, open the block library and add the Newsletter block to your home page or any other page to place the form wherever you like. Alternatively, in the Maintenance notice block of your maintenance page, choose Brand focused and turn on Show newsletter signup to show the same form. You write the block's title, description and button text yourself; a consent checkbox and permission text are added to the form automatically — this text is fixed platform-wide and cannot be changed. In the theme editor preview the form does not submit; subscribers are only added from your live storefront.
Addresses collected by the form go to your store's list, not to Treyza's.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Gave explicit consent (and clicked the link if double opt-in is on). Can receive marketing email. |
| Pending confirmation | Gave consent but has not clicked the link in the double opt-in email yet. |
| No consent record | The record has no explicit consent moment or text. For example, older addresses that spin wheel games subscribed automatically before the consent box existed. |
| Unsubscribed | Left the list via the link in an email or through your action. |
Rows that are "Pending confirmation" or "No consent record" show a short note under the status explaining why marketing email is not sent.
Who receives marketing email?
The decision depends on whether the address belongs to a registered customer or a guest.
Guest (no account): the subscriber record is the source of consent.
| Subscriber status | Guest |
|---|---|
| Active | Receives |
| Pending confirmation | Does not receive |
| No consent record | Does not receive |
| Unsubscribed | Does not receive |
The rule is unchanged for guest addresses that have no record in the subscriber list.
Registered customer (has an account): the account's marketing consent is checked first (opt-in: the account has consent only if the customer ticked the box). A customer who consented on their account receives; a customer who did not consent receives email marketing only with an Active subscription. An Unsubscribed row withdraws old, evidence-less consents from before the opt-in rule. Full table: Customer Marketing Consent.
Addresses that are not sent to appear in the campaign preview and in flow enrolments with the reason "No consent record or awaiting confirmation".
Double opt-in
The Double opt-in switch above the list is a store setting and is off by default.
When off: A visitor who gives consent becomes Active immediately.
When on:
- Every new subscriber from the newsletter form, spin wheel/loot box and product wizard starts as Pending confirmation.
- They receive an email titled "Confirm your subscription" with your store's logo and colours.
- When they click the link, your storefront shows "Your subscription is confirmed" and the record becomes Active.
Good to know:
- The link is valid for 48 hours and can be used once. A second click shows "Invalid link"; an expired one shows "This link has expired", and the visitor gets a new link by filling in the form again.
- If the same address is submitted again within 1 minute, no new email is sent.
- Turning the switch on does not affect existing subscribers; they are not sent a confirmation email.
- You can change the design of the confirmation email under Email Templates (the subscription confirmation template, "Abonelik onayı"). If you turn that template off, no confirmation email is sent, new subscribers stay "Pending confirmation", and the Subscribers screen shows a warning.
What can you do?
- Search: By email, first name or last name.
- Filter: By status, source, tag and sign-up date. The status filter shows the number of subscribers next to each status.
- Download CSV: Downloads the same set as the filtered list. Columns: Email, First name, Last name, Source, Status, Tags, Sign-up date, Consent date, Confirmation date, Unsubscribe date.
- Unsubscribe: From the row menu; available for every subscriber who has not unsubscribed yet (including pending and no-consent rows). If a customer account is registered with that email, the confirmation dialog says so and the account's marketing consent is withdrawn too.
- Delete: Removes the record permanently (for data deletion requests). Cannot be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Why do my older spin wheel participants show "No consent record"? Before the consent box was added, spin wheel and loot box games subscribed everyone who entered an email. These records have no explicit consent moment. Guests are not sent marketing email. If the visitor gives consent again through the newsletter form, a product wizard, or a new spin wheel/loot box campaign, their record is updated (the same campaign cannot be played twice with the same email).
Will my existing subscribers get a confirmation email when I turn double opt-in on? No. Only new subscribers who arrive while the switch is on receive one.
The confirmation email did not arrive. Check the spam folder first. Make sure the subscription confirmation template under Email Templates is turned on. Submitting the same address again within 1 minute does not send a new email.
The marketing box does not show in my product wizard. Enable the Marketing permission box option on the wizard's contact step.
