Product Wizard — Overview and Creating a Wizard

A no-code sales wizard that asks customers short questions and recommends products based on their answers; it opens from a floating button, a page…

Where to find: Left menu → Marketing → Product Wizards Who it's for: Any store that wants to answer the customer's "what should I buy?" question with a few short questions In short: A no-code sales wizard that asks customers short questions and recommends products based on their answers; it opens from a floating button, a page block or a link.

What is it for?

When a store has many products, customers often can't tell which one fits them and leave without buying. A Product Wizard does what a shop assistant would do: it asks a few questions ("Who is it for?", "What's your budget?", "Which scent family?") and shows the best-matching products for the answers.

  • There is no limit on the number of questions, options, branches or rules (only abuse-prevention caps, e.g. at most 100 steps).
  • Recommendations always come from your real catalogue: stock, price lists and storefront visibility rules apply.
  • On the result screen you can add buttons such as Get advice on WhatsApp, Show discount code and View all.
  • Every wizard has its own Analytics and Responses tabs: you see how many people started and finished it and the orders and revenue that came from it.

Example: A perfume store builds a "Scent Compass". The customer answers 6 questions and the result shows a featured perfume with an "89% match" strip plus "2 more close matches".

Where does the customer see the wizard? (three entry points)

You can use the same wizard in all three places at once. You configure how it opens in the Placement tab (details: Product Wizard — Placement (Floating Button, Page Block, Link)).

Entry pointHow it looks on the storefrontWhere to set it up
Floating buttonA round button in the bottom-right or bottom-left corner, right above the WhatsApp button. On desktop it opens a popover window, on mobile a bottom sheet.Wizard → Placement → Floating button
Page blockA full-width wizard inside a page (one question at a time or accordion steps).Theme Editor → add block → Product Wizard
LinkAdding ?sihirbaz=handle to any store address opens the wizard in a popover. Put it in a menu, banner or email.Wizard → Placement → Link

Warning: The wizard is never shown on checkout pages. This is not a setting; it is a fixed rule so that nothing distracts from the payment flow.

Three example setups (which template to start from?)

The Product Wizard lets you build three well-known selling experiences with the same tool:

SetupHow it worksStarting templateEntry point
1. Button + popover (decision tree)The first question splits customers into three branches; one branch goes straight to a result, another asks for a budget. The result shows a description built from the answers, View all and Get advice on WhatsApp.Category treeFloating button
2. Page + match percentage (scored quiz)6 questions with emoji options; each answer gives points to products. The result shows a featured product, a % match strip and "why this product" chips. A "No test needed" shortcut on the first question jumps straight to the favourites.Scent finderPage block (one question) or button
3. Configurator (design step by step)Accordion steps: three filter questions (a live product count under every option), a searchable product pick, a variant pick (the product image changes with the choice) and add to cart.Product configuratorPage block (accordion)

There are two more templates:

  • Video wizard: Full-screen, borderless video questions; a different video depending on the answer. (You add the videos from your gallery.)
  • Personality test: Four "score buckets" (e.g. Adventurer, Romantic…); the result depends on the bucket with the highest score. Details: Product Wizard — Builder (Steps, Rules, Result) → "Variables and personality tests".

Tip: Not sure what to ask? Choose the Create with AI card; you describe your goal and a draft is prepared from your catalogue. Details: Product Wizard — Flow Map and AI Draft.

Creating a new wizard (step by step)

  1. In the left menu click Marketing → Product Wizards.
  2. Click New wizard at the top right. (If you have no wizards yet, Start from a template in the middle leads to the same place.)
  3. In the Choose a template card click a template (the selected card gets a dark border).
  4. In the Wizard name card on the right, type a name into Name. E.g. "Scent Compass".
  5. Click Create wizard.

The wizard is created as a Draft and the editor opens. A draft is not visible on the storefront; when you are ready you click Publish.

TemplateStepsWhat's inside?
Blank wizard2One question and one result step
Scent finder8Six scored questions, "No test needed" shortcut, result with match percentage
Category tree8Branching decision tree, budget range, description text, WhatsApp button
Product configurator6Three filters with counts, product pick, variant pick, add to cart
Video wizard4Full-screen video questions, branching by answer
Personality test8Four variable buckets, "highest bucket" result rules

Warning: The "filter" and "score" effects in templates come with empty targets (e.g. a "Filter products" effect with no category selected). They appear as Warning items in the strip under the editor ("… has a target with no category selected"). An empty target matches no products: if you publish without choosing your own categories or tags, those options find no suitable products and the result screen says no exact match was found. Clear every warning one by one before publishing.

The wizard list

Each wizard is one row in the list. Use the search box at the top to search by name or handle, and the All · Draft · Live · Paused buttons to filter by status.

ColumnWhat it shows
WizardName and handle (used in the link)
StatusDraft · Live · Live · unpublished changes · Paused
PlacementActive entry points: Button, Page block, Link
Starts · 30 daysSessions that answered at least one question in the last 30 days
CompletionResponses that reached a result and the completion rate
Attributed revenueValue of recommended products in paid orders that came from the wizard (definition: Product Wizard — Analytics and Responses)
Last updatedTime of the last change

The ⋯ menu at the end of the row offers: Edit · Analytics · Responses · Duplicate · Pause (when live) or Resume (when paused) · Delete.

ActionWhat happens
DuplicateAll steps and the placement are copied into a new draft ("… (copy)"). Responses are not copied.
PauseThe wizard disappears from the storefront immediately (button, block and link stop working). Collected data is kept.
ResumeA paused wizard returns to the storefront with its last published version.
DeleteThe wizard, its versions and all responses are deleted permanently.

Warning: Delete cannot be undone. If you only want to hide the wizard for a while, use Pause.

Drafts, publishing and versions

  • Every change in the editor is saved to the draft automatically within 1.5 seconds (the top bar shows "Draft saved").
  • The storefront only sees the published version. When you change the draft, the status becomes Live · unpublished changes and the button turns into Publish changes.
  • Every publish creates a version. If a customer is in the middle of the wizard when you publish a new version, they can usually finish with the old version; if not, the storefront says "The wizard was updated, let's start over" and restarts.
  • A wizard with an Error cannot be published (the button is disabled and tells you why). With Warnings you are asked to confirm.

Paid plansUnlimitedUnlimited

If you try to publish a second wizard on the free plan you see: "Your plan allows up to 1 published wizard(s) at a time. Pause another wizard or upgrade your plan to publish."

FAQ: If I downgrade my plan, do live wizards stop? No. Live wizards stay live and can still be updated; only taking a new wizard live (or resuming a paused one) hits the limit.
