CatalogDefinitions

Definitions — Overview

You define the core building blocks used to organize and enrich your products here once; then you select them on your products.

Where to find: Left menu → CatalogDefinitions Who it's for: Anyone setting up the building blocks of their store (category, brand, tag, variant, supplier, etc.) In short: You define the core building blocks used to organize and enrich your products here once; then you select them on your products.

What are definitions and why do they matter?

When you add a product, you select things like "Category", "Brand", "Tag" or "Color". But where do these options come from? From the Definitions section.

Definitions are like your store's dictionary. You define a category, brand or color here once; then you can select it again and again across hundreds of products. This way you don't rewrite everything for each product and everything stays consistent.

Tip — Suggested order: Setting up the core definitions here (especially Variants and Categories) before you start adding products makes your job much easier.

Definitions home page (Hub)

When you click Catalog → Definitions, a welcome page opens:

  • Title: "Definitions"
  • Below it there is a card for each definition type. Each card shows: the type's icon, name, how many records there are (e.g. "12 records") and a short description.
  • Clicking a card opens that type's management page.

How they all work in common (learn once, applies to all)

All 9 types work with the same logic. Once you learn this, you know them all. Each type page contains the following:

1. Top bar

  • Search box (on the left, reads "Search..."): Filters the list instantly as you type.
  • "+ New ..." button (on the right): Opens a panel to add a new record. (E.g. New category, New brand.)

2. List table

  • There is a selection box (checkbox) at the start of each row.
  • Columns that vary by type are shown (name, slug, status, date...).
  • For types that have a Status, a green Active / red Inactive badge appears.
  • At the end of each row there is a three-dot (⋮) menu: Edit and Delete.

3. Add / Edit panel (Drawer)

When you click + New or Edit, a panel (drawer) slides open from the right:

  • It contains the form fields for that type (different for each type).
  • Two buttons at the bottom: Cancel (give up) and Add (for a new record) / Update (when editing).
  • After saving, a "... added / updated" notification appears.

4. Delete confirmation

When you click Delete, a confirmation window opens (e.g. "Are you sure you want to delete ...?").

Deletion cannot be undone. Moreover, products using that definition may also be affected (e.g. the category you delete is removed from the products too).

5. Pagination (bottom of the table)

  • Rows per page: 10, 20, 30... options (default 10).
  • Page X / Y indicator and forward/back arrows (<< first, < previous, > next, >> last).

6. Empty state

If there are no records, you see an icon, a description and a + New ... button.

7. Quota warning (for some types)

For types like Categories, Brands and Tags, a warning bar appears as you approach/reach the maximum number allowed by your plan, and the + New button may become disabled.
