What is a brand?

A brand shows who produces/sells a product. Page description: "Manage a brand list to assign brands to your products."

Defining brands is useful for the customer: they can filter like "Show only Nike products". You can also create brand pages by adding a logo and description to a brand.

Adding a new brand — step by step

  1. Click the + New brand button. A panel opens ("Enter the brand details.").
  2. Fill in the fields:
FieldWhat to enter?Required?
Brand nameThe brand's name. E.g. "Nike".
SlugThe web address equivalent. Leave it blank, it is generated automatically from the name.
LogoThe brand's logo (an image is selected from the gallery).
DescriptionIntroductory text about the brand.

  1. Click the Add button. A "Brand added" notification appears.

Editing the slug manually: The slug field is normally locked and generated automatically from the brand name. If you want to change it, you open it with the Edit button next to it and type whatever you want; if you click Close, it is generated from the name again.

If the same slug is used by another brand, a "This slug is already in use" warning appears; enter a different slug.

Editing and deleting

  • Edit: ⋮ → Edit → change → Update.
  • Delete: ⋮ → Delete. Confirmation: "Are you sure you want to delete the ... brand?"

If you delete a brand, the brand information is removed from the products linked to that brand.

Frequently asked

Is a logo required? No. But adding a logo makes brand pages and filters look nicer.

Can I assign more than one brand to a product? The brand field in the product form allows multiple selections; but usually a product has a single brand.
