Printable Outputs (Packing Slip, Barcode Label, Picking List)
Three printable outputs for fulfilling orders: a price-free packing slip that goes in the box, barcode labels to stick on products, and a picking list…
Where to find: Packing slip → order detail toolbar · Picking list → order list bulk actions menu · Barcode label → product list bulk actions menu Who it's for: Anyone preparing, packing, or picking orders in the warehouse In short: Three printable outputs for fulfilling orders: a price-free packing slip that goes in the box, barcode labels to stick on products, and a picking list to gather several orders at once.
How printing works
All three outputs use your browser's print dialog (no separate program needed). When you click "Print", the browser's print preview opens; from there you can send it to a real printer or "Save as PDF" to keep a file. The printed page shows only the output itself; on-screen elements like the menu and sidebar are hidden.
Barcodes are generated in the standard Code 128 format and can be scanned with handheld terminals or phone barcode readers. For a product to be scannable, it (or its variant) must have a barcode entered. You enter it in the Barcode field on the product edit screen; you can also generate one automatically with the built-in EAN generator.
1. Packing slip (price-free)
The slip placed in the shipping box, used to verify that the right items were picked. It does not include any price/amount — so it's safe to put in the box sent to the customer.
How to print:
- Open an order's detail page.
- Click the Packing slip button in the toolbar.
- Print or save as PDF from the print dialog that opens.
What's on the slip:
- Order number and date, plus the barcode of the order number (to scan and pull up the order quickly).
- Recipient / delivery details (name, address, phone).
- Product/variant, SKU, and the product barcode for each line.
- Quantity and a total items/units summary.
Scanning the barcodes on the slip while packing helps prevent putting in the wrong item.
2. Barcode label (from the product list)
Produces barcode labels laid out on an A4 sheet to stick on your products.
How to print:
- Go to the Catalog → Products list.
- Select the products you want to label (row checkboxes).
- In the Bulk Actions menu, click Print barcode labels.
- In the dialog, choose the label size (Large 2 columns / Medium 3 columns / Small 4 columns) and the number of copies (per product).
- Click Print.
What you should know:
- For products with variants, a separate label is produced for each variant; each label carries that variant's own barcode.
- For products without variants, the product's own barcode is used.
- Products/variants without a barcode are not added to the label sheet; the dialog states how many items were skipped. Enter a barcode for these from the product screen first.
- Each label shows the product/variant name, SKU, and a scannable barcode.
3. Picking list (multiple orders)
When preparing several orders at once, it aggregates the items across all of them into a single list: if the same product appears in different orders, its quantities are summed. This lets you see at a glance how many of each product to gather in the warehouse.
How to print:
- Go to Orders → Order List.
- Select the orders you will prepare.
- In the Bulk Actions menu on the bottom selection bar, click Picking list.
- Review the aggregated list in the preview; click Print.
What's on the list:
- A summary of how many orders and how many total units will be gathered.
- Product name, SKU, and line barcode.
- The total quantity to pick for each product.
- A check box to tick as you pick.
The list is sorted by product name. Refunded quantities are subtracted — so you only gather the units that will actually ship.
FAQ
The barcode isn't showing / it says "—". No barcode has been entered for that product or variant. Enter one from the Barcode field on the product edit screen (you can also use the EAN generator).
The barcode won't scan. Don't lower the printer resolution or print the label too small; if it won't scan, choose a larger label size (Medium/Large).
Why is there no price on the packing slip? The slip placed in the shipping box doesn't show prices; this is intentional. For a priced output, use the amount summary on the order detail or the invoice.
