Where to find: Left menu → Overview → the Refresh button to the right of the page title, and the Monthly Sales Goal card on the dashboard Who it's for: Anyone who keeps the dashboard open during the day and wants to track a monthly revenue goal In short: You refresh the dashboard with one click (or let it refresh itself every 60 seconds), and you can enter a monthly net revenue goal and follow your progress on a ring.

Part 1 — Refreshing the dashboard

Why is it needed?

The figures on the dashboard show the state at the moment you opened the page and do not change on their own. So if you opened the dashboard in the morning and left it open until noon, the numbers on screen are still the morning's numbers.

The system also keeps the data in a short-lived cache so the dashboard opens fast. That is why an order that just arrived can take up to a minute to appear in the figures.

The Refresh button solves both: it clears the cache and has the figures recalculated.

Where do I find it?

At the top of the page, to the right of the title, there is a two-part button:

[ ⟳ Refresh ] [ ]
  • The text to its left tells you when the data was last refreshed: "updated just now", "updated 4 min ago", "updated 2 h ago". This text updates itself.
  • ⟳ Refresh: when clicked, the icon spins and the dashboard reloads.
  • (clock icon): opens the auto-refresh setting (below).

Tip: During a refresh the page does not go blank and no skeleton screen appears — only the icon on the button spins. The figures update in place.

If you refresh too often

Refreshing recalculates your store's data from scratch, so there is a sensible limit (12 refreshes per 5 minutes). If you exceed it you do not get an error; you see this message:

"Refreshed too often. Showing cached data for now; try again in N min."

In this case the dashboard still tries to show current data, the cache is simply not force-cleared.

Auto refresh (every 60 seconds)

Clicking the clock icon opens a small popover:

FieldMeaning
Auto refreshThe popover title.
Refresh every 60 secondsThe on/off switch.
Description"When enabled the dashboard refreshes every 60 seconds. The preference is stored in this browser."
Footnote"Auto refresh pauses while the tab is in the background."
  • It is off by default. You turn it on deliberately.
  • The preference is stored in this browser: if you sign in with the same account on another computer, it will be off there.
  • When you move the tab to the background (switch to another tab), refreshing stops and resumes where it left off when you come back. So a forgotten open tab does not create pointless load.

Who should turn it on? Turn it on if you are watching orders live on a campaign day. On normal days leaving it off and pressing Refresh when needed is enough.

Note: The Live Visitors card is independent of this setting; that card already works in real time on its own.

Part 2 — Monthly Sales Goal

What is it for?

If you have a goal such as "let's make 250,000 in revenue this month", the dashboard shows a progress ring telling you how much of it you have completed. If you do not enter a goal, the card only shows an invitation message; the rest of the dashboard works exactly as before.

The card is called Monthly Sales Goal.

Important: which figure counts?

QuestionAnswer
Which revenue counts?Net revenue — the amount actually collected, with refunds deducted. If an order was placed but not paid, it does not count towards the goal.
Which period? The current calendar month (in your store's time zone).
Does it follow the date range selection above? No. Whatever range you select at the top right, the card always shows the current month. The card's info tooltip says so too.

Setting the goal

  1. Open the Overview screen.
  2. On the Monthly Sales Goal card press Set a goal.
  3. Type the amount into the Monthly net revenue goal box (e.g. 250000 — the currency is your store's currency).
  4. Save. The "Monthly sales goal updated" notification appears and the ring fills immediately.

The goal must be greater than zero. If you enter an empty, zero or negative value you get the warning "The goal must be greater than zero".

To change the goal later, click the card; you can update it from the same form at the bottom of the window that opens.

Reading the ring

The centre of the ring shows a percentage and "N days left". The colour of the ring tells you the status:

StatusWhat it means
Goal reachedYour net revenue this month equals or exceeds the goal.
On trackYou are at the expected pace for the part of the month that has passed.
Behind goalAt this pace you will end the month below the goal.

What do you see when you open the card?

Clicking the card opens the large detail window with these boxes:

BoxMeaning
Net Revenue This MonthRevenue actually collected since the start of the month, refunds deducted.
Monthly GoalThe goal you entered.
Amount RemainingHow much is left to reach the goal (0 if exceeded).
Remaining / Total DaysHow many days are left in the month / how many days the month has.
Daily AverageHow much net revenue you made per day on average this month.
Daily NeededHow much you need per day over the remaining days to hit the goal.
End-of-month projection at this paceWhere you will land at month end if the same pace continues.

The logic of the projection is written in the window too: "The projection assumes the average daily net revenue since the start of the month continues until month end." So it knows nothing about campaigns, seasons or holidays; it is a rough trend indicator.

Step by step: set the goal and start tracking

  1. OverviewSet a goal on the Monthly Sales Goal card.
  2. Type the amount and save (e.g. 250000).
  3. See the percentage and days left on the card's ring.
  4. To see details during the month, click the card and look at Daily Needed.
  5. To refresh figures during the day press Refresh at the top; on busy days turn on Refresh every 60 seconds from the clock icon.

Frequently asked questions

I entered a goal but the ring looks empty. You have no collected revenue yet this month. Even if there are orders, they do not count towards the goal until the payment is collected.

I set the date range to "Last month" and the card did not change. That is the correct behaviour. The sales goal card always shows the current month.

How do I remove the goal? Clear the goal in the form inside the card and save; the card returns to the "Set a goal" state.

I turned on auto refresh but the numbers do not change. If no new order/visit has happened, the numbers stay the same. Also, refreshing pauses while the tab is in the background — return to the tab.

I pressed Refresh and it said "refreshed too often". You refreshed many times in a short period. Wait a few minutes; meanwhile the dashboard keeps showing current data.

Can my staff see the goal too? The card is visible to users who are allowed to see the finance/report data on the dashboard. You manage permissions under Store Settings → Team Members.
